Different anxiety disorders can affect anyone at any time. These are not conditions that are age-related or that have to stem from some other condition. Therefore, there is a possibility that you might develop some sort of anxiety disorder and that you may already be suffering from some other medical condition. Because of this, it is important to know whether the use of this anti-anxiety drug, Clonazepam might affect any of the conditions that you might be suffering from or whether that condition might have any effect on your Clonazepam treatment. The good news is that there are very few cases in which the use of Clonazepam will be absolutely prohibited and in which this medication will never be prescribed or recommended. For instance, if you have severe liver damage, this will be the case. The reason for this is that Clonazepam is metabolized in the liver and if the liver does not function properly, this may lead to excessive amounts of the drug in the system, which can lead to adverse effects. Narrow angle glaucoma is another contraindication for Clonazepam as this medication might further exacerbate this condition. Finally, there are different allergies that will prevent you from using Clonazepam and these include allergies to any benzodiazepine drugs, like oxazepam, lorazepam, clorazepate, alprazolam and chlordiazepoxide, to name a few.

Pregnant and breastfeeding women are also not prescribed with Clonazepam unless it is absolutely necessary. This is because this medication might harm the nursing child or the fetus. There are additional cases in which the use of Clonazepam might need to be modified. For instance, the doctor might start you off on a lower dosage or they might want to run some tests to find out whether you can take the drug. In some other cases, they might want to monitor your progress more closely than they usually do. These include glaucoma, liver and kidney diseases of any kind, breathing problems such as asthma, bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder and emphysema. This is also true in case you have a history of depression or suicidal behavior or thoughts, or if you have a history of addiction to drugs or alcohol.
